Walk Description:

From Corfe Mullen recreation ground we walk down to a series of fields taking in the views across to Badbury rings and Wimborne Minster.

Crossing a main road and passing along a quiet road we turn left down a track and come out at Ashington Lane.

Passing several Lady Wimborne cottages in the conservation area we then cross a field. This area can be wet. We are beside a small holding with pigs and goats along with various other animals.

We go down a short path (that can get overgrown in summer) then back via Happy Bottom across the road and down a bridleway to Rushcombe Bottom. Down another lane, some steep steps and across Ashington Cutting which is a dissused railway.

Turning back towards Happy Bottom and across a field which can be marshy, up a short hill then back briefly onto the road. The fields in this area are part of the nature park. There are sometimes conservation grazing cows.

Happy Bottom is a small nature reserve which is part of the Corfe Barrows Nature park partnership with local landowners.

This partnership is designed to allow visitors to enjoy the local countryside and wildlife.

There is a stream which flows towards the river Stour.

We exit on a path which is briefly steep.

Returning back over the main road and across the rec to the cars.

The rec can be breezy as it is quite high up. The views are lovely.

There are toilets. Sometimes they remain locked. There are more toilets behind the larger Co op in Corfe Mullen.

Lots of free parking. Walk is about 5 miles.
