Walk Description:
A favorite 5-mile walk in this superb spot of Hampshire countryside which seems so remote, but it is in fact just an unspoilt little pocket between Droxford and Bishop's Waltham that seems to have been forgotten.
The walk is beautifully varied with woodland tracks and paths through farmland and fields offering open sweeping countryside views. As we start, we cross a field with ponies grazing peacefully until we reach a delightful wooded path with gaps in between the trees through which we can admire extensive views across Corhampton Down and beyond, towards Winchester. As we progress, through field tracks, we will be able to see Corhampton Golf Club at the bottom of the hill with Corhampton Forest and Beacon Hill beyond. We then catch the Wayfarers Way with views towards Droxford Village and beyond to Old Winchester Hill. Views of Fawley and Southampton can also be seen further along the route.
The walk is considered of moderate difficulty because there are some stiles and a steep set of steps to manage, the paths are not always easy underfoot especially when it gets muddy but the rewards are great!
There is the opportunity to have refreshments at the welcoming Hampshire Bowman’s Pub after the walk.
