Walk Description:

From one hour WALX in your local country park to a half day in the hills, our Explorer WALX capture the variety of scenery, themes and types of WALX that suit your lifestyle. If you love WALX to the pub or WALX with the dog or simply WALX in wild locations we have them all! Whether long, short, tough or gentle we welcome all ages and all levels.

Stage 2 of Great Stones Way - Barbury Castle to Old Sarum.

Salisbury Cathedral

This summer we are undertaking some new walks including the whole of the Great Stones Way from Barbury Castle to Old Sarum following an ancient trail through the Pewsey Vale and Salsibury plain taking in the ancient sites at Avebury, Woodhenge and Old Sarum.

Today`s Walk:  Continuing on from previous section at Amesbury we walk through Great Durnford, The Woodfords and Old Sarum before ending at Salisbury Cathedral.

This is a longer linear walk and we will break for a rest and snack break at The Woodfords. We can spend some time at Salisbury before taking public transport back to Amesbury.

Length and Grade: A 10 mile walk with some ascents and descents. Possibility to end the walk at Old Sarum which will reduce mileage to 7 miles.

Location: Start to be confirmed after I recce the route.

Notes: This walk goes through various villages so there may be shops/facilities but bring snacks and drinks anyway.

LIFT DETAILS

If I have not asked you to meet me at end of walk please meet at the start of the walk to walk off by 9:45am. 

We will leave a few cars at end to enable us to share lifts back to the start point. I will contact you seperately if you are coming that way.
