Walk Description:

Our walk starts from Slough Station and follows a seven mile route through Herschel Park and then along the Jubilee River finishing at Taplow.  This is a man made river constructed for flood relief.  Once out of Slough there are practically no built-up areas along the route so the reed-beds and trees lining the river are an important wildlife habitat.  It is an ideal walk for winter as we are on firm surfaces nearly all the way, and get the best view of the river through the bare branches of the trees.

We will stop for lunch at The Pineapple pub in Dorney which is about two thirds of the way through the walk - they have an excellent sandwich menu!  If we are a alarge group it is likely that they will ask us to pre-order.

The walk will finish at Taplow Station where we can catch the train back into London.

Key sights

Herschel Park Eton College playing fields Jubilee River Dorney Wetlands

Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.

If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.

Monthly Payment clients £10; Pre-paid Credit clients £16 - price adjusted at payment.
