Walk Description:
Starting at the school carpark at Pamphill we cross over the cricket green before joining Abbott Street.
Into All Fools Lane, a magical place almost like a hollow way before arriving at Sandy lane. This can be wet.
Turning into this narrow lane we eventually reach the start of the Droves.
The first one is Sweetbrier Drove, we also pass along Summer Hayes Drove.
These provide a network of paths within the Kingston Lacy estate. They were probably used to move
animals around in times gone by.
Part of the route goes along the side of the main road following the famous 1835 Beech Avenue which
was planted as a birthday gift for the owners mother.
This is the only noisy part of the walk but we will turn back into peaceful countryside. There is a small
hill in this area with a convenient bench at the top.
From South Lodge carpark we continue to Pamphill along Abbott Street. This has a short hilly bit before
arriving back at Pamphill.
Paws needed for the road sections.
Free parking at the school end of Pamphill Green. Toilets at Pamphill Dairy on the right as you drive
through. They are outside.
There is a lovely shop called Nest as well as the farm shop and butchers.
Option for coffee at Pamphill after. (there is a coffee van, card payments only, near the Kingston Lacy
allotments where we can stop if we want. Toilets nearby.)
This area can be entered without a NT card.
For those wishing to make a day of it, you can explore Kingston Lacy. The gardens are extensive.
Perhaps take a tour of the house but this needs pre-booking. Have your NT card to hand.
Kingston Lacy has an interesting history and belonged to the Bankes family. They had links to Corfe
Castle.
The walk is about 5 miles.
Location Notes:
Meet in the car park closest to Pamphill First School (opposite end to the main green car park near the church).
