Walk Description:
Starting from the village of Mockbeggar we take a different route today with wonderful views.
Going up the lane away from the village we turn left along a track. Climbing up towards the
top of the forest we make a loop around to Ibsley Common. This does involve some up and downhill.
Once on the common the route is flat with extensive views. The Huff Duff is visable in the
distance and can be visited if anyone has not already been to read the interesting history boards.
Looping around we make our way back to Whitefield Plantation and the trig point. The
plantation is a mix of Douglas fir and taller Scots pines.
From here we gradually go downhill and back to the track before the road to the cars.
Roadside parking. No toilets here but two minutes down the road is a lovely farm shop and cafe.
On Wed an excellant fish stall sets up in the carpark.
Toilets at Hockey's which are outside near the carpark.
Jan 2026, part of this route will be muddy.
BE AWARE THERE ARE ROADWORKS ON THE FORDINGBRIDEG ROAD FROM RINGWOOD.
Location Notes:
Near the cross roads park opposite the white chapel at Mockbegger. The parking area is marked by small posts to keep on the gravel. Nearby is an excellent farm shop called Hockey's which has a cafe and toilets.
