Tintwistle and Reservoirs

On this walk we visited some of the less famous reservoirs near Tintwistle using parts of the Pennine Bridleway, Upper and Lower Swineshaw Reservoirs and Walkerwood and Brushes Reservoirs. We set off with some trepidation from the small village of Tintwistle, due to the unfavourable weather reports, and were surprised to get over an hour in to our walk before the rain started.

As we made our way up into the moorland the heather was in full bloom making for some great views, however when the rain started, it started quite subtly at first with the views starting to change and soften then disappear. It soon became a test of attrition and waterproofs, the attrition was good, the less said about the latter the better.

The lack of pictures after the rain show how wet it was! Once back in Tintwistle we had a quick change of clothes before heading in to The Bull’s Head for a quick drink before heading home.
