Come and join us on the Jurassic Coast for a Nordic walking spectacular which is suitable for all levels. Places are limited so we advise to book your place as soon as you can!


Whether you (or your friends) want to get started at a Taster session, improve technique in a workshop or simply join us on scenic, themed and challenging nordic walks – there will be a HUGE welcome and a fun relaxed atmosphere at our hub overlooking Swanage Bay.


We are also delighted to be part of the Purbeck Outdoor weekend and have included a 16 mile and a Marathon challenge event exclusively for Nordic Walkers so if you are up for a challenge, come and get the T-Shirt and Medal!

As this is our first UK Festival we are keen to not exceed our maximum numbers so places will be limited. Registration is first come first served and date of registration will be taken into consideration for any walks or workshops that may have number restrictions due to location, theme or specialist leaders. May is National Walking Month!

May is National Walking Month, which is all about encouraging people to walk more throughout May – a great excuse to go out Nordic walking in the Spring sunshine!

Nordic Walking UK have set up a series of sessions all over the UK for the weekend of 14th & 15th May offering you a chance to catch up on the latest techniques if you have let things slide or to get started with Nordic walking if you haven’t already :-

nw-taster-walk-500-white_v1Taster Sessions – a session for novices and newbies to Nordic walking. Learn about the benefits of Nordic walking and how it’s far more than walking with poles



nw-learn-to-nordic-walk-500-white_v2Learn to Nordic Walk Courses – our award-winning four week Learn to Nordic Walk course will take you through four ‘gears’ to help you master the techinique of Nordic walking required in order to achieve your personal health and fitness goals



Technique Refresher Sessions – if you completed a Learn to Nordic walk course a while back but feel like you need a refresher on your technique to ensure you are getting the maximum benefit from your poles – a refresher session is for you



Conversion Courses – if you have been Nordic walking for years but have never received structured tuition from a NWUK qualified Instructor, come along and we will work with you to ensure that you understand the current NWUK teaching methods and terminology and issue you with a FREEDOM Passport to demonstrate this!

Len Goodman tries Nordic Walking!

NWUK Instructor Lisa Mallet was recently asked to offer Nordic Walking tasters at an event at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The event marked the launch of the YOUR PERSONAL BEST CAMPAIGN which is supported by Len Goodman and Arlene Phillips of ‘Strictly’ fame who joined in and had a go at Nordic Walking!

The campaign which was launched by Glaxo Smith Kline is aimed at helping the over 55s and those with long term health conditions to become more active. The emphasis is on working at your own pace and not letting age or ill health become barriers to having a go at gentle activity. Continue reading

Funding from the Mayors Legacy helps London projects grow

NWUK have an exciting opportunity for anyone based in London who wants to train to become a Community Instructor, Full Instructor and or become Exercise Referral qualified.  We have been accepted as providers to a scheme that enable learners to get 75% of the training funded by the Mayors Legacy. The funding is designed to leave a lasting sporting legacy from the Olympics by training people to deliver activities into their community.  All that they ask is that in return the learner volunteers up to 25 hours (in total) of time to a project in one of the Boroughs. This is easily achieved and helps them to practice and develop their skills as Instructors.
