Walk Description:

Come and join us for some festive fun with a Winchester walk including the River Itchen and the water meadows, St Catherines Hill and then into the city taking in some literary interest of John Keats and Jane Austen who both spent time here.

The River Itchen is a chalk stream that loops around Winchester which was once the countries capital. At the end of the walk, you are then free to explore Winchester Christmas Market which is set in the grounds of the City's Cathedral and has been voted in the Top 10 UK Christmas Market to visit.

You will need to make your own way to the meeting point outside the Guildhall on The Broadway.

There are several Park n Rides off the M3 serving the town centre.  Cost is £3.50 for parking all day and includes bus fare for up to 5 people. Buses leave every 12 mintues from the site into the city and take approx 10 -15 mins to the Broadway. There are toilets at the park and ride.

We can assist you with car sharing and put you in touch with other walkers.

There is also an option of taking the train and the start time accomodates the SWR train that gets into Winchester at 10:17.

Poles are optional. Parts of the walk maybe muddy. Bring refreshments for the walk but there are plenty of places to buy on the day.

Location Notes:

Meet outside the Guildhall on the corner of Abbey Passage.
