Walk Description:
Rockford Common is a large heathland and woodland area along with being an SSSI. It has many walking trails.
Our route will start by a loop of the common then leave on a series of gravel tracks as we make our way to Blashford Lakes.
This is a huge nature reserve in former gravel pits. We will spend some time passing through this area with beautiful views of the lakes.
There is some road walking on small lanes. Some forest and lake side tracks can be muddy at this time of year.
Nearest toilets are at Hockey's farm shop, outside in the carpark. This is a great place for coffee/food afterwards. A three minute drive away.
The two carparks at Rockford are National Trust and are free. There is an enormous sand pit/bank which you can see as you drive in. Sat Nat not too good in this area. You will be near Moyles Court school for reference.
Location Notes:
Large free carpark. Hockey's farm shop and cafe just over a mile away. On a Wed there is an excellent fish stall.
