Walk Description:

We are excited to welcome you to this introduction to the use of poles to exercise the whole body while walking. In this 90 minute structured session you’ll learn the basic techniques, giving you the skills to be proficient at using the poles and getting the most from them in your walk, feeling the difference that walking with poles brings whether your aim is to return to exercise, increase your aerobic fitness, strengthen and tone your muscles or just get more from your current walking activities.

We’ll provide the poles for this session so you just need to arrive dressed for walking and exercising outdoors – this means comfortable footwear with reasonable grip, comfortable clothing and a waterproof jacket.

The woods can have ticks so please keep your legs covered – we have insect repellent if you don’t have your own.

We will meet at the Roundhouse, just up from the car park and then make our way to the log cabin as our base for the session.

Please register with WALX and book online.

If you book and can’t make it please let Martin know on 07562 319068 prior to the session so we know not to expect you.

Parking is free and we have access to the forest toilet facility.

Any further questions please contact us on 07562 319068 or info@walxfarnorth.co.uk

Location Notes:

There is free parking at the forest meeting point. There is a toilet at the forest, near the log store. Many paths are surfaced but some are not and can be muddy with exposed roots so sturdy footwear is advised. The number 80 bus between Thurso and John O Groats passes the meeting point
