Walk Description:

Starting at the beach car park we will make our way into Dunnet Community Forest, exploring these tranquil woods and enjoying the nature around us. We will move across to the sand dunes and onto the beach for a total change of landscape, completing our walk accompanied by the sights and sounds of the waves and the seabirds.

The paths through the Forest can be rather uneven with exposed roots and the beach has some rocky areas so please wear suitable shoes or boots. There are ticks in the woods at this time of year so please cover up skin at foliage level to avoid exposure and use insect repellant (we will have Icaridin to use if you need it). The slopes in the woods are gentle but, please be aware, coming down to the beach from the dunes involves a short, steep section. Our poles are very helpful here.

Please be mindful of weather forecast on the day and bring appropriate clothing. We would also suggest bringing your own water and perhaps a snack. If you bring items please carry them in a backpack that doesn't inhibit your arm movements.

WALX strapless poles will be provided.

Any questions please contact Martin or Fiona on 07562 319068 or info@walxfarnorth.co.uk

Location Notes:

Dunnet Beach car park is located next to Dunnet Bay Campsite. The parking charge is voluntary. There are public toilets available onsite (honesty box for donations). The surface of the beach varies between rocky and sandy so please wear sturdy shoes or boots for activities here. Please take care entering and leaving the car park owing to the nearby bend on the main road.
