Our #walk1000miles team are still going strong and our accumulative total up to the end of October now stands at….
31,943 MILES
That is the equivalent of 1,219 marathons!
The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896. The distance did not become standardized until 1921.
More than 800 marathons are held throughout the world each year and be completed by running or walking.
Eliud Kipchoge currently holds the men’s world record for completing the course in 2:01:39 and Brigid Kosgei holds the women’s world record for completing the course in 2:14:04.
But the most important aspect of any marathon is the inclusion of thousands of people of different abilities coming together to work towards a common goal.
#walk1000miles is YOUR marathon – and you are rocking it TEAM NWW.
I am so impressed by your determination to keep ticking off those miles and working towards the finish line.
