I need a minimum of 3 people for a walk.  Please cancel by 6pm the day before a walk.  If you need to cancel after this time or on the day of the walk, I would ask that you just let me know that you cannot attend and the walk will remain chargeable. If a walk is to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, I will let you know by 8pm the evening before.

Power of Poles intro course

Meet at 9.45 for a 10am start at the Barn, Green Farm Thorpe DE6 2AW

Find out how to use fitness walking poles to achieve the results YOU want. This course will help you understand how to select the right kind of poles and use them for health, fitness, fun or challenges.

This course will ensure you get the correct movement and techniques from the start. We provide the poles for tuition sessions. These are strapless during the first part and we change to strapped nordic walking poles in the second half of the course.

After this course you will receive the Freedom Passport to book walks with all NWUK instructors.

A progression to an optional Part 2 of the course gives you the opportunity to explore how to get more out of using Nordic style strapped poles with drills and advanced technique tuition.

Don`t forget to wear suitable shoes and clothing for all weathers and bring a drink and snack.

This very scenic and interesting walk crosses fields from South Stainley to Burton Leonard, then through disused lime quarries (now a wildlife sanctuary) before joining part of the Ripon Rowel route and back to South Stainley. Conducted mostly in gears 1 and 2, the walk is about 4.5 miles and takes just under 2 hours.
