We all know simply being in nature can de stress and help you to unwind but now the WALX Dorset team can help you to take that further by showing how to really harness that power.

Far more powerful than a walk through the woods, these workshops help you to understand the deep connection we have with nature and how to allow yourself to completely clear your mind. The results are far beyond any expectation as you emerge full of energy, positivity and joy! There is a raft of scientific evidence which proves the phenomenon of ‘forest bathing’ from the healing phytoncides ( wood oils from pine trees) which aid lungs and breathing to the reduction in blood pressure, boosting of the immune system and improvement in symptoms of depression.

We could show you the science but we prefer to take you deep into a wild Forset and let you discover it for yourselves. Join us and you will leave with the knowledge that joining us regularly is better than any pill!

We'll have our usual Sunday morning walk, today, it's a Bluebell Special at ASHRIDGE, followed by a quick Car Park Cuppa and snack, then we'll head off for an extra couple of hours. Will gradually build distances on these walks, they will be "ADVENTURE" level walks and some may be classed as 'Strenuous'!

This is a delightful and gentle scenic walk through Thorncombe Woods.

Suitable for all abilites with or without poles.

Thorncombe Woods has two beautiful areas where the Bluebells grow in abundance and we will visit both areas which will also take us past Thomas Hardy's cottage. Both areas have a very different feel to them which make them unique. 

There is a wealth of wildlife – including resident Dartmoor ponies- and a varied range of mature trees and open scrubland from which, high up, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside with the Purbeck Hill’s in the distance. A walk not to be missed!

We will meet in car park, there is a charge of £2.90 for up to 2 hours, to use the car park.

Walk Description:

For about an hour we will stride out, aiming to cover about 3 miles. This is an exercise session for those used to using their Nordic Walking Poles with the correct technique.

Although you may feel your heart beating a bit faster and your breathing a bit deeper, there will be plenty of opportunity to chat with your fellow walkers and take note of the countryside we are walking through.

The terrain will vary, sometimes flat, sometimes a bit steep, but well within your capacity.

And at the end there is usually a coffee available nearby.

Wellbeing Walk 

Tapeley Park Garden Experience

   Meet at the free car park to the entrance of Tapeley Park (Post code EX39 4NT)

This walk is designed to accommodate ALL ABILITIES 

For those of you who have completed the Learn to Nordic walk course- these action packed walks are designed to help you improve your fitness levels and gain FAST results. Alternatively depending on individual abilities enjoy sociable gentle Nordic Walking in stunning locations with a mixed ability group.

Your qualified instructor will add motivating drills and exercises into a steady/fast paced fun walk. Lead by an accredited instructor, these walks make the most of our beautiful coastal countryside and are a relaxing way to enjoy being active outdoors. Enjoy a full body work out while walking with like minded people,
