An excellent way to get your exercise in the week is with a Nordic Walx on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday morning in and around Stanmore and Harrow Weald. This 5 mile walk is suitable for Gear 2 walkers and although there are no steep hills there are inclines, the pace will be a Gear 2 pace! The walk is along hard tracks, grass farm tracks and woodland paths.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

Lyme Park Nordic Walks
Come and join us on a social walk on a circular route of around 5km within the Historic Estate of Lyme Park.
Nestling on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme was once home to the Legh family, and in its heyday a great sporting estate.
The estate is 1400 acres, so offers lots of different walks with stunning views, and we may see some of their famous deer herd too.
Gears 1 and Hill techniques 9:30-11:00
Optional coffee and cake afterwards in The Timberyard Cafe, or The Hall.
There is a short warm-up before the walk and stretches after it.

Want to take your fitness and strength to the next level? This is the one for you!! This instructor led session will improve your muscular strength, resistance, endurance. It is a full body intense workout. Exercises are differentiated to suit your level of fitness. Bands are used for resistance work and smoveys will improve your cardio. Hill drills and interval training will be embedded into the session when we are at Newbold Comyn.

These gentle walks are suitable for people who would like to start Nordic Walking to get fit but have no/ little walking experience, have had an injury or a knee/ hip operation.
We often walk on the level paths around Ilam park. But we will also incorporate fields and hills in our walks which are 2-3 miles.

A more gentle walk for those with a recent medical condition that means that mobility is limited, and who feel their fitness levels have declined as a result. The challenge is still to manage an hour walk, with rests when needed. Regularly weekly walks can bring improvements.
Start of the walk is at the same time of the other group. Warming up exercises are together and we meet again in the car park for a hot drink.

Join us for a fabulous walk starting from the West Wittering Memorial Hall. This walk can be led in a variety of ways, depending on the ground and weather conditions, but all routes will eventually lead you to the glorious West Wittering Sandy Beach.
