A 6 mile walk from Levens hall, along the River Kent, through the lovely little village of Sedgewick and then up and over the abandoned Hincaster tunnel on the Lancaster canal.

It is now filled in, but the towpath trail of the Lancaster canal still goes past it.

   Come and join our WALX classes. To get the most from using poles in our WALX sessions, the Power of Poles is an excellent starting point.

We are excited to welcome newcomers to the use of poles to exercise the whole body whilst walking. Using poles will engage your core, improve posture and  take the weight off lower body joints. It enables you to exercise outdoors  which is great for your mental health as well.

Find out how to use fitness walking poles to achieve the results YOU want. This session will help you select the right kind of poles and use them for health, fitness, fun or challenges. Poles are provided. If this Sunday does not suit, please contact me on 07803 037 332 

The POWER of POLES Induction is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and Nordic walking poles to aid the user gain the best technique and results! Taught over 2 sessions of 1.5 hours duration, the second being optional, the session starts with the strapless moulded handle fitness walking poles devised by WALX and FIZAN

This enables you to feel  greater core engagement and master the  elements that provide propulsion,   increased exercise benefits and make you feel lighter on our feet. Once you have mastered these essential basics you get to explore the traditional Nordic walking straps and movements.  The second session of the Power of Poles is optional and  will be listed separately  at a convenient date for you.

Join us for an exploration of Canon Hill with some lovely view points of the New Forest, a gentle woodland walk along some wide tracks and some gentle climbs up to the viewpoints. 

Some of the walk can be muddy and this is a popular area for Dog walkers. Roots and uneven terrain on parts of the walk.

For the Home Weights workout with Denise, all you need is something you can hold in your hands to use as an added resistance. It could be a set of weights or dumb-bells or, alternatively, you could use washing softener bottles or plastic milk bottles filled with water. You could use wet towels in a plastic bag or bags of potatoes (anything you can hold in each hand). Part of the former Hatfield Aerodrome Ellenbrook Fields is a series of linking permissive footpaths, suitable for walkers and cyclists that have been created through the areas of open grassland,with grazing cattle, and meadows with some woodland.

In 1998 the park was used as part of the set for filming 'Saving Private Ryan'.

This is a moderate paced walk covering approx. 3 miles

 

Please follow social distancing guidelines and keep 2m apart and be aware of other walkers in the area.

It is advisable to carry a face mask and hand sanitizer.

If you feel unwell between the time of booking the walk and attending please err on the side of caution and cancel.

This is a delightful and gentle scenic walk through Thorncombe Woods.

Suitable for all abilites with or without poles.

There is a wealth of wildlife – including resident Dartmoor ponies- and a varied range of mature trees and open scrubland from which, high up, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside with the Purbeck Hill’s in the distance. A walk not to be missed!

We will meet in car park, there is a charge of £1 per hour, to use the car park.

Throughout the walk we will be observing the social distancing as best as possible at all times.

This is a Gear 2 walk of less than 4 miles. There are a couple of different options according to the ground conditions. Although a shortish walk, there are some steep ramps to improve your cardio fitness. The walk varies between grass on lovely old turf and hard tracks. This walk compliments the other weekly Gear 2 walks, which are longer but have gentler inclines, both designed to help you improve your personal fitness.

Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

Walk Description:

Duration – 1 ½ hours, walk grade - 3.  Not everyone walks at the same pace!  The Regular Walk is a social way to get fit and stay fit.  It`s aimed at moderate paced walkers and above.  After a warm up we will set off together and those that wish to walk fast can go ahead and at certain points we will gather together.  This is achieved by those walking ahead will, at certain points or times, double back to the rear of the group or remaining at a pre-determined rendezvous point and practicing drills or other gentle exercises to keep warm and active.
