John is launching a progressive fitness programme designed for anyone looking to gradually build their fitness and stamina. Whether you're starting from scratch or seeking a structured way to regain strength, this programme is tailored to support your journey.

About the Programme

John brings first-hand experience to this initiative, having rebuilt his fitness after an illness and is now recovering from surgery. His inspiring journey motivates him to help others achieve their goals at their own pace.

The programme starts in February with a gentle 2.6-mile walk at a 2.5 mph pace and progresses to a challenging 12.8-mile walk at 3.5mph in December.

What to Expect

Each month will feature a variety of walks to keep things interesting and adaptable to different fitness levels:

Walk Description:

This is a super walk across high-level moorland at the North West of the Long Mynd area, with extensive views, providing great mental health benefits. As the cars do the climbing for us, the walk itself is relatively easy. The beauty of this walk is that the main, circular, part of the walk is relatively level, and suitable for all. The second part of the walk is there and back along the lane, including some gentle hillwork, down to Wildmoor Pool and back. If you only want to do the first part of the walk, this can be easily accommodated.

Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

We are adhering to Covid-19 protocols. Please use your own poles and bring your own water.

Come and join us on a social walk on a circular route of around 5km within the Historic Estate of Lyme Park 

Nestling on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme was once home to the Legh family, and in its heyday a great sporting estate.

The estate covers approx 1400 acres, so offers lots of different walks with varying terrain and stunning views, we may see some of their famous deer herds and highland cattle too.

Walk Description:

Join us for 2025 exploring the coast of the magnificent Morecambe Bay in 15  walks throughout the year.

Exploring all the amazing different environments as we go.

 

This walk which is 5 miles starts from the lovely little village,

Cark in Cartmel and Flookburgh before we get to the coast. Follow an embankment which gives us lovely views of the bay, before turning back inland to the start.  

 

It is essential to register and book in advance online.

Walk Description:

These walks are a great opportunity to exercise and meet and chat to other walkers. They are of moderate pace with the opportunity should you wish to push yourself a little further. You will walk with a qualified walk leader or master.

These walks start at different locations to give you the enjoyment of walking in the surrounding countryside of your local area.

These walks are often lead  by qualified walk leaders and can be from an hour to 3 hours long. It is a moderate  paced walk with a few stops. An hours social walk naturally tends to be  at a quick pace than the 90+ minutes.
