A very attractive mixed-terrain walk with much to see. The walk takes in pastureland, a walk around the internal perimeter of Sallow Coppice - a beautiful deciduous wood, returning via the picturesque Stokesay Castle, and the banks of the River Onny.
Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.
We are adhering to strict Covid-19 social distancing protocol. Please use your own poles and bring your own water.

Bluebells at Hatchlands for the goBuzzers!
Outline plan: 1. Meet at Pembroke Lodge before 09:00hrs and car share to Hatchlands (GU4 7RT) or take your own car and meet us there. Depart Pembroke Lodge at 09:00hrs at the latest. 2. RV at Hatchlands cafe/toilets for 10:15hrs safety brief and walk start (toilets and cafe open at 10:00hrs). Parking is free but there is an entrance fee for non National Trust members. 3. Three walks - moderate, medium and gentle. 4. RV back at Hatchlands House for lunch (optional) at 12:00hrs. 5. Option to visit Hatchlands House after lunch; entry included in estate entrance fee. NB Today the walk starts in Tissington Village
These gentle walks are suitable for people who would like to start Nordic Walking to get fit but have no/ little walking experience, have had an injury or an knee/ hip operation.
We often walk on the Tissington Trail as this is fairly level and even. But we will also incorporate fields and hills in our walks which are 2-3 miles.
Gear 1 and 2
Sometimes we meet somewhere else to do a similar walk.

A more gentle walk for those with a recent medical condition that means that mobility is limited, and who feel their fitness levels have declined as a result. The challenge is still to manage an hour walk, with rests when needed. Regularly weekly walks can bring improvements.
Start of the walk is at the same time of the other group. Warming up exercises are together and we meet again in the car park for a hot drink.

Build It Up Buttercup Fitness Programme
John is launching a progressive fitness programme designed for anyone looking to gradually build their fitness and stamina. Whether you're starting from scratch or seeking a structured way to regain strength, this programme is tailored to support your journey.
About the Programme
John brings first-hand experience to this initiative, having rebuilt his fitness after an illness and is now recovering from surgery. His inspiring journey motivates him to help others achieve their goals at their own pace.
The programme starts in February with a gentle 2.6-mile walk at a 2.5 mph pace and progresses to a challenging 12.8-mile walk at 3.5mph in December.
What to Expect
Each month will feature a variety of walks to keep things interesting and adaptable to different fitness levels:

Hilly terrain
Flexibility for All Abilities
Participants can join and stop at any stage to match their own ability or ambition.

10.30AM START. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the `Thursday Thunderer Workout Walk` is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk starting from different locations in the Salford area. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code. Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.

Your Instructor will help you gain a more comprehensive understanding of poles and how to maximise them for everything from fitness walking to running (optional).

Join us for 2025 exploring the coast of the magnificent Morecambe Bay in 15 walks throughout the year. Exploring all the amazing different environments as we go.
This third walk is 6.4 miles. After a short journey on the bus to Cockerham, we walk through fields until we arrive at Cockerham marshes.
A lovely quiet but impressive area. Lots of seabirds especially when the tide is in.
From here we will walk along the coast past the ruins of Cockersand Abbey, Plover Scar Lighthouse and into Glasson Dock.
Last bit along the track bed of the Glasson Dock to Lancaster railway back into Conder Green
Car Parking - £1 ringo App No. 24901. Catch the bus to Cockerham, to start the walk. Toilets available here and then Glasson Dock on the way back.
