Join our Guided Nordic Walk around the ancient Forest. Walks are led by our team of experienced Forestry England Volunteers. Our walks are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, who have completed a NWUK Learn to Walk Course and are comfortable walking for the full 90 minutes.
Please sign up at least 2 hours before the advertised start time so that we can ensure one of our volunteer leaders will be there.

A great way to start the week is with a Nordic Adventure Walk on a Monday, Tuesdy or Wednesday in and around Stanmore and Harrow Weald. Get ready for the weekend with a stimulating Saturday morning walk around Stanmore Country Park. Or join us on a Sunday morning for a longer, faster paced walk in Ruislip Woods.
These are intermediate walks, usually lasting one hour and will include some hill work. For those new to the area you`ll be surprised at the fantastic views over London that you get from Wood Farm Viewpoint, the hidden lakes in PearsWood and Bentley Priory and the seemigly endless trails through woods which change with the seasons.
Walkabout Wednesdays give the opportunity to travel a little further into neighbouring boroughs, or out along the Metropolitan line into the Chess Valley. Saturdays we`re always in the Stanmore Country Park, but we never tire of it as there are such a variety of trails to explore.

A 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. On Monday these walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.
Starting in April 2025 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

This is an Intermediate/Gear 2 walk (the distance is greater than a Gear 1/Intermediate walk) of approximately 4 miles with a couple of different options according to the ground conditions. Maybe one or two short steep ramps and some longer hills can be included depending on sign ups, but as a rule the walk includes gentle inclines and hard tracks through woods.
Intermediate - A faster pace than Gear 1 and an established technique is key, but if necessary a little more recovery time for those that need it.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

A purposeful small group walk of up to 2 miles at a relaxed pace. Includes stopping for simple breathing, balance, strengthening and flexibility exercises.This walk is suitable for those new to walking outdoors, with health conditions or recovering from illness/ injury.
This is an outdoor activity and you will need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain which can be uneven, stony and muddy.Outdoor trainers or flexible-soled walking shoes are preferable.If wet weather is expected, we advise water resistant/waterproof shoes or a change of socks/shoes. Waterproof jacket and trousers are advisable.In cold weather we recommend several layers that can be removed if required. In extreme cold weather hats and gloves (preferably walking or sports gloves) are desirable.In warm weather we recommend, sun hat, sun cream, insect repellent , long trousers/sleeves to guard against nettles/thorns/insects. Please bring a water bottle and snacks and a small back pack is useful for carrying them in.
