Slight change of plan from the scheduled Langham Airfield 6 miler (due to Rebecca's ankle!) which will now take place on 16/8 instead.
This walk is always a favourite any time of the year, but especially summer! It's amazing. We traverse field trails, meander along the river, oggle Oxnead Hall for wedding action (!) and explore the sleepy hamlet of Brampton. On the way back, we come along the Bure Light Railway where we are bound to see a steam train.
The village sign at Brampton pays tribute to its heritage as pottery producer in Roman Britain. Our 4 s/mile walk on Saturday takes us through its centre and then past OXNEAD and Buxton mills. A corker!!!
Bring along a chair and a flask for CAR BOOT CAFE at the end in the shade of the trees!

Join us for this 1 to 1 1/2 hour walk at a steady pace covering approx approx 5km walking round
On Saturday 2nd August we will be holding a walk in memory of Sheila. She was a friend, a host and a lover of our walk group. She joined the group on her retirement from work in 2017 with the intention of increasing fitness and socialising with like minded people. Some of you have told me how she was the first person who spoke to them when they joined the group. Always one to offer support and encouragement she loved a chat.Sadly she was taken from us far too soon and we thought a walk in her memory would be appropriate. So Saturday 2nd August at 10am we will have a walk in Avenham Park starting from Frenchwood Recreation car park PR1 4LX followed by a carboot cafe when we finish. Di will provide tea, coffee, milk, juice (and Baileys of course) but would love some of you who enjoy baking to bring cake or cookies (plus your own cup if possible)We will be having a collection for a couple of causes close to Sheila's heart Dance Syndrome and St Catherine's Hospice.
Let's make Sheila proud and have a fun day as she would love to see us all smiling and chatting.
Thanks a lot...any questions feel free to ask Di

Technique Workshops
When we first start walking with poles, it’s natural to need a bit of guidance as we learn the technique. After a while, with focus and practice, our form often improves. But over time, especially as we relax into walks or chat along the way, that technique can gradually slip.
Why is good technique important?
Efficiency – Poor technique wastes energy, especially when going uphill.
Injury prevention – Misalignment increases the risk of strain or injury.
Pace – Over time, compromised technique can slow us down.
These workshops are a great opportunity to refresh your skills, improve your efficiency, and stay injury-free, whether you're new to pole walking or have been doing it for years.
