The Sunday long walks are a fantastic way to enjoy a great morning and to make the most of our wonderful area.
These walks are open to everyone who wants to walk with or without poles. It is walked at a moderate pace with stops for a drink and quick snack (bring your own).
If you are planning to take part in a challenge walk such as the Purbeck Festival 16 Mile Challenge on the 15th September 24 or the Beachy Head Marathon (half or full) in October, this is a great way to train.
The Burham walk incorporates fantastic views of the South Downs. We stick to the main paths but always wear good shoes.

For those who who have completed the LTW course, this action packed walk is designed to improve your fitness levels. Strength and conditioning drills are incorporated into the walk session which is paced at varying levels of intensity to suit all levels of ability.
Note on direction: Don't move off Woodhill Road. Some satnavs take you down a dead end lane. There are 2 car parks - we meet in the lakes car park
Please bring a thermos as there isn't a cafe onsite. Sometimes there is an Ice Cream Van that sells coffees.

WALX sessions need to be experienced and not simply described so our WAlx Factor lessons give you the chancee to see for yourself just how powerful walking based exercise can be when its at the right level for you.
Come along and give WALX a go - Your qualified instructor will guide you through how to get the MOST out of every step you take. Great for beginners and experienced WALXers alike.
We will be walking on both grass and paths so make sure you’re wearing supportive walking boots or shoes/trainers with a good tread that you are happy to get dirty and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Paws will be required (on and off on different terrains). Hats, sunscreen and insect repellent will also be required when the weather dictate.

Join us for a 6.6-mile walk, along the River Ribble to start with and then up to the picturesque village of Waddington.
Stop for a moment to admire the beautiful gardens. From here we walk through fields and lanes enjoying the splendid views of Pendle Hill.
Pass a lovely little pack horse bridge which spans Bashall Brook and then pass Bashall Hall before returning to the start. There are stiles, cattlegrids and as we are walking through farmland always the chance of livestock on this walk.
Nice pub at the end of the walk or a short distance away by car in Waddington where you might fancy some lunch after.

A new addition to our longer last-Sunday-in-the-month walks series, this walk follows the familiar route out of South Stainley, then carries on along the Ripon Rowel to Copgrove. Crossing a beck, then up through Dene Wood, the walk leads into Burton Leonard, then back to the start. At around 6.5 miles, this lovely walk takes around two and three quarter hours. Well-deserved refreshments at The Inn, anybody?!

I need a minimum of 3 people for a walk. Please cancel by 6pm the day before a walk. If you need to cancel after this time or on the day of the walk, I would ask that you just let me know that you cannot attend and the walk will remain chargeable. If a walk is to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, I will let you know by 8pm the evening before.
MODERATE Walks - walks might involve hills and we walk at a pace of around 3 - 3.5 miles per hour. The walks are usually around 90 mins.

Power of Poles taster, followed by a gentle well-being walk as part of the Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival
Meet at 9.45 for a 10am start at Ilam National Trust car park, DE6 2AZ
Distance: 2.5 miles, 2 hours
The walk: Footpaths, farm tracks and quiet lanes without pavement. Some areas prone to mud and uneven walking.
A session that will help you understand just how beneficial Nordic Walking can be and how it is far more than just walking with poles! This Introductory session will give you an insight into how the poles can propel you along and work the whole body.
Find out how to use fitness walking poles to achieve the results YOU want. And it will help you how to select the right kind of poles and use them for health, fitness, fun or challenges.
Poles provided, there is a choice of strapless or strapped Nordic Walking poles.
After the taster we walk around Ilam Park using the poles and the Nordic Walking technique. This gentle walk will be approximate 2 miles with a total ascent of 190ft.
Don't forget to wear suitable shoes and clothing for all weathers and bring a drink/snack.

Join us for a Nordic walk to discover the Bluebell magic of the Ashridge countryside!
The Bluebells are a bit earlier this year, so we're off to National Trust Ashridge, Hertfordshire (just a short drive from MK but well worth it!)
Approx 3.5hr Moderate Aventure walk. 13km circular route.
Pace: approx 5km p/hr. Mixed terrain countryside walking.
We will park and start the walk from Pitstone Hill car park (no facilities, free parking) and walk in to Ashridge Woods to find the best Bluebells. Approx halfway stop at the NT Cafe/monument where there are loos. Will aim for a 30 minute stop, but please aware the car park/cafe facilities can get VERY busy on a Sunday, sepecially at this time of year, so might be an idea to bring your own snacks/drinks. There's usually an icecream van in the car park!

The POWER of POLES Induction is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and Nordic walking poles to aid the user gain the best technique and results! Taught over 2 sessions of 1.5 hours duration, the second being optional, the course starts with the strapless moulded handle fitness walking poles devised by WALX and FIZAN
This enables you to gain greater core engagement and master the upper elements that provide propulsion, support and increased exercise benefits. Once you have mastered these essential basics you get to explore the traditional Nordic walking straps and movements. The second session of the Power of Poles is optional and will be listed separately at a convenient date for you.

Exploring The Outwoods (near Loughborough) and part of the ancient Charnwood Forest. We will hopefully see the spectacular bluebell display that is well know locally. Our circular route will take us up and down the various woodland paths with an additional route over to Nanpantan for those that would like to walk a bit further. The cafe here is well recommended for an after walk cuppa and cake!
Please remember that paths can become muddy in places at this time of year.
