Disley Nordic Walks

Meeting at the War Memorial in Disley (in front of The Rams Head) we`ll have a warm-up before we head off exploring the magnificent countryside around the Parish of Disley. It varies from urban to rural very quickly with differing views to be had on each walk, after the walk we do some stretches too.

The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, weather.

I need a minimum of 3 people for a walk.  Please cancel by 6pm the day before a walk.  If you need to cancel after this time or on the day of the walk, I would ask that you just let me know that you cannot attend and the walk will remain chargeable. If a walk is to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, I will let you know by 8pm the evening before.

This session is a firm favorite with the members. They call themselves 'The Hillbillies'. 

Laughter is a key feature of the class. 

It is designed to challenge your flexibility, joint mobility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness. Exercises are incorporated within the walk.

Many of our members are seeing the benefits of participating in the wellness sessions. Results have included a reduction in blood pressure, improvements in breathing, better balance and a general feeling of wellbeing. We have a lot of fun as we exercise in the fresh air.

This is a very social session and we often stay behind for tea, coffee and putting the world to rights in the tearooms.

Walk Description:

A great chance to build up your fitness whilst enjoying a Nordic walk in this beautiful Country Park. Previously an Ironstone Quarry the park is a lovely mix of woodland and green spaces bursting with flora and fauna. The varied tracks and trails provide variety and mixed terrain with opportunities to raise the heartbeat but also time to enjoy peace and mindfulness.

Poles are provided. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking and the weather. If you have to carry a bag, a backpack is the most convenient as anything else may hinder your walking action.
