WALX Power of Poles – Nordic Walking Intro Course | Crowland, Lincolnshire The WALX Power of Poles Intro Course is a 90-minute, in-person session designed to teach the fundamental techniques of Nordic walking, helping you turn a simple walk into an effective total body workout. This course takes place in the historic town of Crowland, Lincolnshire, starting from the Old Copper Kettle, before taking in the beautiful surroundings of Crowland Abbey and the nearby open playing fields, where we will focus on developing Nordic walking technique in a relaxed and supportive environment. The combination of open green space, gentle terrain, and the stunning backdrop of the Abbey makes this an ideal setting for learning and practicing Nordic walking skills safely and confidently. During the session, you’ll learn how to use poles correctly to improve posture, develop rhythm, and move more efficiently. By engaging the upper body, Nordic walking can enhance cardiovascular fitness, strengthen the core, and reduce pressure on the knees and hips — making it a highly effective and accessible form of exercise. Join Emma for an Adventure Nordic Walk with a difference! to raise money for PROSTATE CANCER UK
A 30km 'Relay' walk split in to three 10km sections, join us for as much as you like. Walks will be at moderate adventure pace (approx 5km/3 miles p/hr) Terrain will be a mixture of countryside fields, woodland and a bit of tarmac. There will be limited 'rest stops'??
Walks will start and finish from WOBURN. There will be three different routes/timings. *Timings TBC
Walk 1 - 8.30am start - 10.30am
Walk 2 - 10.45am - 1pm
Pit stop/Lunch -1pm to 1.45pm
Walk 3 - 2pm - 4.30pm
There will be a small fee for DD members + a requested donation of minimum £25 to PROSTATE CANCER UK via our Just Giving page.

Pace one
A 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. On Monday these walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.
Starting in April 2025 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

Start your Sunday with our unique Yoga WALX, a gentle walk and mindful experience that fuses walking with Hatha yoga and relaxation. This session is the perfect way to work on your core strength, flexibility, and balance. We incorporate standing yoga poses and movements, all modified so that walking poles can be used for support.
The walk offers an opportunity to engage in a mindful practice, where we focus on the breath, body, and surroundings. It's a wonderful introduction for newcomers to yoga and a chance for seasoned yogis to practice in the great outdoors.
Walk time of 1 hour.
Walkers are requested to arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the start time to allow for parking, shoe change, pole adjustment etc, so that the walk can start promptly at the time indicated.
Please ensure your PARQ is up to date and notify us if you have any change to your physical or mental wellbeing. This should include any surgery, injuries or accidents.

The course includes the use of both strapless Nordic walking poles - which will be used predominantly for ease of learning - and strapped poles, and covers the basics to enable you to get going effectively, and immediately (poles provided).

A classic Nordic WALX to raise your heart rate and enjoy being outdoors on a Sunday. This is a moderate intensity Nordic walk... suitable for most fitness levels, but not a stroll in the park!
The walk will be 1 hour and there will then be an opportunity to purchase tea and cakes at the St Mary Magdalene Church Cafe.
