Exploring The Outwoods (near Loughborough) and part of the ancient Charnwood Forest. We will hopefully see the spectacular bluebell display that is well know locally. Our circular route will take us up and down the various woodland paths with an additional route over to Nanpantan for those that would like to walk a bit further. The cafe here is well recommended for an after walk cuppa and cake!
Please remember that paths can become muddy in places at this time of year.

Gear one
Start your Monday with a 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. These walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.
Starting in April 2024 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

The beginner's workshop is delivered by accredited WALX Instructors in a safe enviroment using stringent covid 19 protocols.

For the Home Weights Workout all you need is something you can hold in your hands to use as an added resistance. It could be a set of weights or dumb-bells, alternatively you could use washing softener bottles or plastic milk bottles filled with water. You could use wet towels in a plastic bag or bags of potatoes (anything you can hold in each hand).
This is a fun session you can do in the comfort of your own home but share the experience with others. This session is a whole body workout that you can do in very little space.
We will challenge you to make it effective, however, alternatives are offered throughout to cater for fitness levels and injuries etc.

This is a 90 minutes walk on footpaths through fields and over stiles around Ellastone. Come and enjoy this early morning walk to get an active start at the beginning of your week.
Using gears 2 and 3, working through the gears for progression and endurance. Walking 3 - 4 miles
Don't forget to wear suitable clothing for all weathers

This is a friendly and popular Nordic walking Group for those who have completed a Power of Poles induction course. We explore the forest trails in Delamere Forest and coverig 4-5km (2.5 - 3 miles) in the hour.

This is a delightful and gentle scenic walk through Thorncombe Woods.
Suitable for all abilites with or without poles.
There is a wealth of wildlife – including resident Dartmoor ponies- and a varied range of mature trees and open scrubland from which, high up, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside with the Purbeck Hill’s in the distance. A walk not to be missed!
We will meet in car park, there is a charge of £1 per hour, to use the car park.
Throughout the walk we will be observing the social distancing as best as possible at all times.

This is a Gear 2 walk of approximately 4 miles with a couple of different options according to the ground conditions. One or two short steep ramps and some longer hills maybe included along with some gentle inclines. The walk varies between grass and hard tracks and lovely old turf. It is a great fitness improver for those who want to include some hill work into their exercise routine.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.
